  • Woodland for Water – new grant scheme

    26 February 2016

A new grant scheme has been launched by the Forestry Commission and Environment Agency. Woodland for Water offers landowners in target areas across Yorkshire and the North East grant funding to plant additional new woodland.

New woodland planting has lots of benefits – providing shelter for stock, creating stronger boundaries and creating potential new sources of income. It also has a significant role to play in flood risk management and tackling water pollution.

Woodland for Water offers grants of up to £6,800 per hectare for new woodland planting. Eligible landowners could also generate an additional £200 per hectare for 10 years.

A trained advisor will work closely with eligible landowners to plan and design a planting scheme and complete the application process. They will also give advice on protecting and maintaining the new woodland if the application is successful.

There is a very tight deadline to apply for the grant funding of 31 March 2016, so we encourage you to get in touch with your local advisor and apply as soon
